Slack Modules

Slack approached IV Studio to create and update its module animations. The modules were short summarized ads of the features on the app. Slack already had a solid brand guideline, but to help improve it, we implemented 3D models to match the current trends of motion design. Also, we wanted to add fun little details to the animation like making the avatars talk or making interesting compositions. My role for this project was to help with the look development as well as create the style frames for the animators. I also lended a hand with the storyboarding.

 

Development

We knew from the start that we wanted to add 3D elements. The team was drawn to the pill shapes and we thought it could be the driving force for the animations. We pushed the frames in all different directions until we met in the middle with the client. They wanted to maintain a lot of the original brand designs, so we added a few updates like 3D art and introduced new assets to their branding illustration list.
