A Blend of 3D & 2D
Lately I have been learning a 3D software called Blender and this page is for my progress and projects that I have created with Blender and Photoshop. Learning something completely different from what I am used to making has been refreshing and has given me new places to explore with my art and I wish to continue with it! Enough rambling, enjoy! :)
First 3D Project
As someone who mostly works mostly in a flat style, I thought that learning a 3D software was going to be extremely difficult for me because you have to think in a 3D space. I will say there were quite bit of challenges (especially lighting), but thanks to a lot of tutorials on different platforms, it went smoother than expected. After a lot of trial and error and experimenting, the bottom right picture was my first 3D project. I revisited the project later and changed up the lighting and put it in Photoshop to add some hand drawn elements.
Night Owl
The goal for this project was to combine 3D objects with a 2D illustration. I wanted to see how I can handle more complex shapes than just vases and cubes. I enjoyed the process of putting together 3D and 2D because I like the technical aspect of 3D and I get to draw in Photoshop and adding 3D gives my illustrations a little more depth.
Fall
This illustration has been through multiple stages and styles. First it was had a very rustic and hand drawn style. Then I refined the drawing by making it more clean, but at the same time I wanted to maintain a hand drawn look. Then one day, I wanted to see what it looked like in 3D and this was the final result. Also, l’m still experimenting with the lighting system in Blender, something that I’m still trying to improve on.
Everything Will Be Okay
I wanted to create an illustration with clouds because one I needed to model clouds for future illustrations and two, I wanted to practice more on organic shapes. For this illustration, I played with volume and the grease pencil in Blender and I did the background in Photoshop.
