Fractured Sky
Fractured Sky is a board game created by IV Games where you collect fragments of a falling star by using your airship. This game is a combination of strategic area control, resource management, and blind bidding. The art team (IV Studio) was tasked to do all of the art assets for the game. Individually, I was assigned to do the character designs that would later be transferred to 3D.
Character Shield Art
The main challenge of this project was that I had to create the characters from the ground up. The art team only had the general premise of the game, so there was a lot of room to create our own backstories for the characters and the other art assets. We did know that we wanted the characters to be non human and the style to be an in-between of cute and serious. Overall, I visioned the characters to be fantastical and almost elemental combined with fun shape design.

From the start, I was thinking the characters could have supernatural features.
After getting feedback, I made the characters more stylized. I was also started to play with shape design. I knew from the start that I wanted to do a pirate sea creature as one of the captains. The design on the left was too complex looking, so I pivoted to designs that were more simple and cartoonish.
